I Know It Sounds Odd . . . . . . But Hear Me Through!

Today I finally took the time to bake something different. Something I've wanted to try for a long time. Something that I wasn't sure sounded good at all. I have seen these on many shows and blogs over the last year or two, and finally decided I must try it. So I looked at a few ideas, and came up with my own recipe.

Some of the elements needed:

Some pure New Hampshire Maple Syrup. This just happens to be some that my husband boiled up himself. Delicious!

A good homemade cupcake batter. I decided to use a yellow cupcake as the base for this recipe.

Mini muffin wrappers.

A homemade maple butter cream icing. Smooth, creamy and sweet!

And the magic ingredient . . . . drum roll please . . . . . bacon! Wait, don't leave me now! I know, it sounds nuts, but seriously, who wouldn't want to incorporate bacon into every single course? I chose a homemade maple bacon.

And the result? A delicious cupcake topped with a decadent maple icing and jeweled with a delicious blend of the sweet and salty for your taste buds. Maple bacon. I think I have finally found a way to make one of my favorite foods into a dessert. Taste bud heaven:) Seriously!

Happy Birthday to Erin!

Made a birthday cake for Erin last weekend. She loves lemon and strawberries, so I made this lemon cake with strawberry and cream filling, whipped cream icing and fresh strawberries on top.
